Diary of my stay at the Coal Store.....Narrowly missing the screw sticking out of the door frame leading into our boudoir for the night - designer clothes damage drama avoided.Darent shut the door too firmly, appeared not sturdy enough to take it. Bah - didnt spot a vital fire evacuation notice missing that should have been displayed, so relieved we didnt need it.We dropped our possessions on the floor - no furniture in sight. Received a gratis acupuncture session stepping on splinters and shards of wood on the carpet - could have called Grime-busters;Plastic leaves covered the wall accommodating slumbering spiders exhausted from weaving the carpet of cobwebs behind the headboard; We made a pact - no trumping allowed; the window had no latch to air the room and definitely no nose picking - there was no bin to flick it in;Ooh err...nature called - we tossed a coin....who would play Russian Roulette on the loose toilet seat - then swiftly made another pact to pee quietly in the night; there no toilet door - was this the time to discover that ladies do really do the deed? We practised coughing for the vital moment to mask the splash. We checked - the view from the toilet seat definitely wasnt promoted on the website; a designer patch of damp surrounded the socket on the wall - discovered it was duff as well.Time to prepare to go out... another toss of the coin - decision, decision.....the dirty bath or scary shower? - annoyed - forgot to pack flip-flops, so decided to go smelly.Another problem to overcome...no mirror in the washing area - hubby knows his face well...but could he risk shaving by memory? So grateful current fashion for facial stubble - we went to a party looking and smelling like we had already been out on the tiles. An experience is what the website promised and that is what we got. I will share my photos with you - a visual aid of our stay.
Went here for my hen do some years ago with 20+ of my nearest and dearest. Absolutely brilliant. Great fun making pizzas one night in their pizza oven on site. Good location to cycle from on hired bikes also. Happy memories :)
Went there last year in August and absolutely loved it! It was raining and the atmosphere was amazing, the fireplace was great and breakfast was really tasty. The room was great, we booked the coal one, you know, the one with completely open bathroom... yeah that was one downside, please put doors there!! Everything else looked fantastic and its an easy 5 star rate!
Brilliant place. Nowhere else like it. Great food, beautiful surroundings, lovely people.
One of the most amazing experiences we've had! We came here in the late season for a weekend away with the kids, and have to say it's one of the nicest places we've stayed. The decor is perfect with the sweetest little astro-turf floor, and the staff so helpful! Almost everything was perfect, except from a couple of cold moments at night, when we forgot to put wood in the stove! There is loads to do nearby, and one of our now favourite pubs is just a short drive away. Check-in was easy, even if the place is difficult to find, and there were no problems with check-out either! Lovely place, lovely people, and a lovely experience overall!
